Working in partnership with the Archdiocese of Baltimore’s Office of Hispanic Ministry, Catholic Review Media has launched a new Spanish-language podcast.
“Protagonistas de Fe” premiered June 18 with an interview with Monsignor Lucio Ruiz, the Holy See’s secretary for the Dicastery for Communications. Other recent guests have included Gaby Jacoba, director of the International Film Festival, and Baltimore Auxiliary Bishop Bruce A. Lewandowski, C.Ss.R., who oversees the Seek the City to Come plan for parish renewal in Baltimore City and some parts of Baltimore County.
Lia Garcia, director of the Office of Hispanic Ministry, serves as host of the new program, which usually is posted for streaming every other Tuesday.
“A podcast for the Hispanic community is definitely a new way – a new methodology – for reaching and tapping into the Hispanic community here in the United States and abroad,” Garcia said. “We’re using technology to our advantage to raise up testimonies of faith. We are interviewing some very important guests who we wouldn’t be able to reach in person if it wasn’t through the gift of technology.”
Protagonistas de Fe may be accessed on SoundCloud, Apple Podcasts and a host of other podcasting platforms. Listeners may also tune in at CatholicReview.org/protagonistas-de-fe.
Christopher Gunty, associate publisher and editor of Catholic Review Media, said he is pleased to collaborate with Garcia on Protagonistas de Fe. Catholic Review Media has produced a nationally award-winning English-language radio show and podcast, “Catholic Review Radio,” since July 2020. It previously assisted in the production of an archdiocesan radio show and podcast called “Catholic Baltimore.”
“It has long been a goal of ours to reach out better to the Spanish-speaking Catholics in our archdiocese and Protagonistas de Fe is going to be one great way to do that,” Gunty said, “It’s also been a major goal of Archbishop (William E.) Lori to make sure that Catholic Review Media and the Office of Hispanic Ministry are working together to reach the Spanish-speaking community.”
Protagonistas de Fe translates to “protagonists” or “advocates” of faith in English.
